Andrea Benedetti received her BSc (1994) in Mathematics & Computer Science and her MSc (1999) in Epidemiology from McGill University. In 2004, Dr. Benedetti received her PhD. She was awarded the Dean’s Honours List for her thesis, “The use of generalized additive models in epidemiologic research”. From 2004-2005, Dr. Benedetti was a part-time postdoctoral fellow at the Institut Armand Frappier, where she studied issues related to the analysis of case-control studies and the effects of alcohol on lung and other cancers. In March 2006, she began her joint appointment as an Assistant Professor at McGill University in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics and in the Department of Medicine. She is also a member of the Respiratory Epidemiology and Clinical Research Unit at the Montreal Chest Institute. Her research interests include nonparametric regression, accounting for model uncertainty in flexible regression methods, and statistical methods in molecular epidemiology.
