Curriculum vitae

Faith Wallis is a historian of medieval Europe, specializing in the history of medicine and science. Her research centres on how western medieval peoples transmitted, received, and transformed ideas, information and techniques relating to the natural world and the human body through texts and their manuscript vehicles. Two areas of particular concentration are the development of an academic literature of medicine in the 12th century (notably through the creation of the "Articella" anthology), and the medieval sciences of time-reckoning. To visit her website "The Calendar & the Cloister" click on "External Website" above. She is a founding member of the research team "Transmission, Translation and Transformation in Medieval Cultures." (www.ttt.mcgill.ca)
