Operations Management

Glenn Zabowski has been teaching in the Operations Management area at the Desautels Faculty of Management since 1990. He currently designs and teaches courses in Statistics, Operations Research and Operations Management at the undergraduate level.

Glenn received the Faculty’s Distinguished Teaching Award for outstanding undergraduate teaching in 1997 and 2001 and also the Management Undergraduate Society Teaching Award in 1998 and 2002.

Glenn is now in his sixth year of being the academic Director, BCom Program which involves managing the operations of the BCom Student Affairs Office. Glenn also serves as the undergraduate/graduate Disciplinary Officer.

Glenn’s principal research interests lie in improving the teaching and practice of management science courses through the use of technology in the classroom. At international conferences, he has given hands-on workshops on data analysis, simulation and technology in undergraduate statistics education. Glenn is especially interested in the science of the delivery of courses to large classes (150+), which do operate much differently than smaller classes (< 60).

Having helped create the new statistics core course in the Faculty’s BCom program, Glenn has done much research into making statistics education more effective in business schools. In addition to his book, Using Excel for Statistics and Data Analysis, Glenn writes numerous text and software reviews, and continues to publish course notes and problem sets.
