
Before joining McGill’s Faculty of Law in 2006 as a Wainwright Junior Fellow, Professor Moyse practiced for several years with the Montreal firm Leger Robic Richard, specializing in commercial and intellectual property law. He pleaded successfully before the Supreme Court of Canada in the recent 2007 case Euro-Excellence v. Kraft Canada dealing with copyright and competition.
In 2006, Professor Moyse completed his LL.D at the University of Montreal. His thesis, entitled “Le droit de distribution en droit d'auteur,” is published by Yvon Blais/Carswell (2007). Professor Moyse is also author of numerous articles published in European, Canadian and international journals such as the McGill Law Journal, les Cahiers de propriété intellectuelle, and World Internet Law Report, Auteurs & Media.
Member of the Centre for Intellectual Property Policy (CIPP), Professor Moyse is currently working on a new research initiative, “Competition Law and Innovation,” sponsored by McMillan LLP and the Institute for European Studies McGill-University of Montreal. He has also recently received a grant from Borden Ladner Gervais LLP for his project, “Dangerous Liaisons: the Interface between Intellectual Property and Competition Law.”He recently received a F.Q.R.S.C. grant for his work on the abuse of right theory in intellectual property (2008-2010).
Professor Moyse topics of interest and research are legal history, the study of property systems (intellectual property, civil law property), competition and commercial law.
Professor Moyse teaches Civil Law Property, Business Organizations (MBA/law joint program), and Evidence in Civil Matters.
